Hi, my name is Danny McDonald. My medical association with Dr. Lee and Tri-State Orthopedics began in August of 2002 with a torn ACL and meniscus. Dr. Lee performed ACL reconstruction on my right knee. After intensive therapy, I was back to work and riding my bike in only 8 weeks.
I have always been an avid bicycle rider. In 1980 I suffered a terrible knee injury to my left knee, fast forward to 2009, my left knee is bone against bone and severely bowed. After treatment for the pain, Dr. Lee determined it was time for a knee replacement. So I had my left knee replaced in July of 2009. I was back to work in 8 weeks, walked a 5K n 9 weeks and took a 65 mile bike ride after 10 weeks.
After years of limping on a bad knee, working on concrete floors, and wear and tear my right hip needed to be replaced in December 2014. This recovery was even more remarkable to me than my quick recovery from knee replacement I had my hip replaced on December 22 and was recovering at home just a little over 24 hours! I was able to walk into my home unassisted and was back to riding an exercise bike in 18 days. I would have been back out on my outdoor bike, but it was just to cold! I was back to work in 8 weeks. In July 2015, a little less than 7 months after the hip replacement, I rode in the RAIN (Ride Across Indiana) bike ride. I rode 162 miles in 11 hours and 49 minutes. This was the 3rd time I had done this ride, but the first time with both an artificial hip and knee.
Dr. Lee has always encouraged me to keep on riding my bike and stay active. I have averaged 3,000 mile a year for the last 9 years, plus working full time and keeping up with 6 very active grandkids.
All of this has been made possible by the skill and care of Dr. Lee and her staff at Tri-State Orthopedics.
