For thirty-four plus years I had suffered with the severe pain and ugliness of scoliosis and was in despair because one renowned spine clinic had given me no hope for any correction or relief. Then my life took on new hope as I met Dr. John Grimm at Tri State Orthopaedics. After studying my test results, he never hesitated to assure me he would give me a normal back. I never heard sweeter words.
The surgery was a piece of cake for me, as I slept while Dr. Grimm and his team worked long and intensely through several glitches to reconstruct and sculpt a beautiful spinal column for me. It was near twelve hours long, but Dr. Grimm did not give up until I had the back he had promised. Afterward, because of an adverse reaction to pain medicines, I was in excruciating pain for the first day until an alternate treatment could be found. If I had had five babies in succession, the pain wouldn’t even have come close. But like in childbirth, so with this surgery, you forget the pain and remember only the reward. Dr. Grimm continued to monitor me throughout my hospital stay at St. Mary’s with TLC.
I went to rehab for a couple of weeks until I was able to manage personal care and walk well, but it was so good to come home. I am continuing to walk with rehab and really enjoy it as I try to extend my distance each time out.
I’m proud to show my _before_ and _after_ x-rays to everyone; people are astonished at the transformation. One of the perks of the operation was that I grew four inches taller in one day. I can’t wait to wear a blouse with a low cut back to show off my beautiful scar. This operation has been a miracle for me and the answer to my prayers. I can only see a quality life ahead due to the skill, perfection and sensitive humanity of Dr. John Grimm.
