About David L. Whitney, M.D.

My approach towards patients is personalized. I believe there is no one textbook that can be applied to every patient, and each patient can expect to be treated as an individual. I strive to work with each patient to educate them about their condition and find the best treatment for them.

I chose the medical field because I find great joy in helping people. When I was introduced to orthopaedics, I felt I had found the area in which I could live out my passion of helping others. I like so many facets of orthopaedics that I couldn’t choose just one specialty, so I chose to be a general orthopaedic surgeon. The mainstay of my practice is joint replacement, sports medicine, trauma, and fracture care.

I was raised in Evansville, am a graduate of Harrison High School and proud alum of USI. I completed a post-bac program and attained my medical degree from Indiana University. After medical school, I moved to Kansas City to complete my orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Kansas Medical Center. However, being a hometown kid, it was my pleasure to return to the area to serve the community I know and love.

My goal as an orthopaedic surgeon is to provide the upmost individualized care to patients. The most gratifying aspect of my work is being able to use my knowledge and training to help treat patients and return them to doing what they love. My approach towards patients is personalized. I believe there is no one textbook that can be applied to every patient, and each patient can expect to be treated as an individual. I strive to work with each patient to educate them about their condition and find the best treatment for them.
