Hand, Wrist & Elbow

From your shoulder to the tips of your fingers, there are 64 bones – 10 in the shoulder and arm, 16 in the wrist, and 28 in the hand – and all of them work together, along with tendons, ligaments, and muscles, to help you perform daily tasks like brushing your teeth, getting dressed, using your smartphone, typing on a keyboard, and lifting and carrying objects.

When you have pain in your hand, wrist, elbow, or shoulder, even simple everyday activities can become difficult.

In fact, up to 25% of all disability injuries in the U.S. involve the upper extremities, and 25% of athletic injuries involve the hand and wrist. But upper extremity pain doesn’t only affect athletes. It can also be caused by activities involving repetitive motion, degenerative conditions such as arthritis, and strain brought on by overuse.

Because the hand and arm work together to help us perform so many of our daily activities, you will want to be seen by a physician with extensive experience in treating hand and upper extremity pain.

If hand, wrist, or elbow pain is making everyday activities more difficult, make an appointment with one of our specialists.
